Luis is doing very well on his bottles. He had another Brady yesterday so we will have to wait and see what the doctor says next week about him coming home.

This is the website of Luis Thomas Gallant. Luis was born on June 16th, 2001 at 24 weeks gestation. Luis was 1.42 lbs and was 11 7/8 inches long making him a micro preemie. After 4 months in the hospital and 6 months home on oxygen, Luis has grown up a healthy active child. Luis' BlogThursday, September 20th, 2001Weight: 5lbs 10.7oz Wednesday, September 19th, 2001Weight: 5lbs 9.5oz Dad spoke with his doctor today on the phone. He said that they want to try to wean Luis a little more on his oxygen and up his feeding this week. He would also like to see Luis go a week without a brady (Heart rate Slows) before he comes home. He said if all goes well maybe Luis could come home next week. :-) Tuesday, September 18th, 2001Weight: 5lbs 8.5oz Oxygen: 24% Luis is now taking 50cc to 60cc every bottle. He was asleep last night while feeding and choked on the milk so he had a Brady and they put him up to 40% on his oxygen for most of the night. All the same he is doing well now. Monday, September 17th, 2001Weight: 5lbs 6.9oz (Little piggy) Height: 16 inches He has just been switched to taking ALL BOTTLES. He does better with the breastmilk than the formula so Amy (Personal Nurse) is going to talk to his doctor to see if he can take all breast milk with fortifier instead of alternating with formula. They are also going to start evaluating his oxygen needs with the specialist to determine how many liters of oxygen he will need to come home on. They haven't given a date for him to come home but it will definitely be soon. Maybe by his due date: September 28,2001. |
