This is the website of Luis Thomas Gallant. Luis was born on June 16th, 2001 at 24 weeks gestation. Luis was 1.42 lbs and was 11 7/8 inches long making him a micro preemie. After 4 months in the hospital and 6 months home on oxygen, Luis has grown up a healthy active child.
11:15am - The baby wasn't moving so the nurse gave it a little nudge. Let me tell you, the baby went crazy. We have babies first temper tantrum on video. Here are a few snapshots taken from the video.
Mommy's blood pressure is excellent and everything is great with both her and the baby.
3:30pm - We heard the babies healthy little heart for the first time today. It sounded stronger then Margie's heart. It's going to be a strong little thing.
8:15am - First visit to the OBGyn at the North Florida Obstetrical & Gynecological Associates, Baptist Division I. They were great, Dr. Wade Barnes OBGyn was very professional and made Mommy very comfortable.
The doctor diagnosed Mommy with thick walls. He explained that this could just be natural OR the baby was over 2 months along. Also he said it could mean we were about to bring twins into the world. He ordered a sonogram on the spot. In the sonogram room we learned that we were in fact only 6 to 7 weeks into the first term. And from the resulting image you can see for yourself that there is only one little baby growing there. The other object to the right is the embryonic sac. The baby is to small at this point to hear a heart beat BUT we could see the little thing pumping. So far so good, a healthy 7 week old baby and everything is normal.
