This is the website of Luis Thomas Gallant. Luis was born on June 16th, 2001 at 24 weeks gestation. Luis was 1.42 lbs and was 11 7/8 inches long making him a micro preemie. After 4 months in the hospital and 6 months home on oxygen, Luis has grown up a healthy active child.
Mommy gave our consent for him to get his vaccines starting today.
He will get:
DTP (Diphteria, Tetanus, Pertussis)
Polio
Hepatitis B
HIB (Influenza)
Prevnar (This is new. It is to prevent Pneumonic Streptococcal infections/illness)
He will get 3 today and 2 tomorrow. We will go see him tonight, he'll need his Mom and Dad after those shots!
Luis has moved from the incubator to an open bed since last night & is holding his temperature well.
He's been on 21% oxygen since last night and weighs 4lbs 4oz.
He did two big poops; stained his clothes and everything. Amy (His primary day nurse) had to give him a full bath already today(bath day is tomorrow)!
Weight: 4lbs 3.5oz
Oxygen: 21%-25%.
Luis is being a good boy today. He was a little out of control yesterday, or so the nurses tell us.
Mommy gave Luis a bath today. It was the first time we got to see that. Of course it's still only a sponge bath. Luis weighs 3lbs 13.7oz and is 15 1/4".
12:00am - His weight today is 3lbs 11.8oz! He's done very well with his 2 bottles today. They will give him his 3rd tonight at 8PM. Doing good on his oxygen: 21% to 30%.
Weight: 3lbs. 8.8 oz.
Eyes checked today.
Result: ROP stage 2, zone 2. The nurse doesn't know what that means exactly. His next eye check is in 7 days.
